v2.4 is already in the works, and currently has on-line automatic updating in place.
When a new version is released following v2.4, the application will download (if you choose to) the new version of the application.
I did have the idea of making it download all the files excluding the settings file, but this would be a waste of bandwidth so I’m going to add zip support also and make it download and unzip the full release.
Given libwiiupdate seems to be dead, and I’ve had to pretty much write most of this from scratch, I might consider wrapping this up into a reusable library.
Wow, that’s version is number seven for an simple ini editor.
And for what should be an update function.
Hey, please spend your time and your know how for stuff that’s required by the scene. 😉

BOOTMII is perfect.

Automatic update and a reusable zip library are both good things.
Automatic updates means whiners won’t whine as much when a new Bootmii update is released and the configuration editor doesn’t support the new/changed options.
Besides, the less n00bs have to stick their SD card in their PCs, the better.
Keep up the good work!
Thanks for all the comments.
As I’ve mentioned before – I’ve been using this as an exercise in learning to program the wii, and everything I do will be transferable to other applications. I plan to release the source code to this once it’s tidied up and I’ve finished experimenting with things and I’d like to hope that everything I’ve achieved in the application can be reused by others.
For example, the console library I’ve wrote to render the screens/windows/dialogs and skins are all reusable, so should anyone else want to write a text/console application, they could use my libraries and have multiple skin support as well as making a console application slightly more pretty than usual.
The auto update and zip library are also important – much of this functionality already exists, but it’s pretty ‘raw’ and quite difficult to figure out how to do it. This again, is functionality that can be used in almost every wii application and so I’ll be spending some time doing this as it’ll be used in anything else I do going forward!
On to spending time on other stuff, if you haven’t already done so, take a look at:
http://www.dpembo.ukfsn.org/2009/07/25/wiiym-preview/
Which is something I’ve also been working on, testing out sound and graphics.
But yes, 7 versions of an editor, but I could have held it all back until I’d tried everything and I chose not to. The editor has come a massive distance since v0.1b and my C/Wii programming ability has improved no end.
Look forward to bigger/better things to come from me, though I need to understand how most things work first, and what better application to try things out on than a ‘simple editor’ 🙂
Gracias pembo por tu trabajo, ahora funciona perfecto.
Esperamos pronto ver nuevas aplicaciones tuyas en la Scene de Wii.
