infinite prime control

My first windows phone app is now available in the windows phone marketplace.

The app is called ‘Infinite Prime Control’ and its purpose is to construct the correct format text messages in order to control the infinite prime burglar alarm control panel.

The infinite prime panel from electronics line is an excellent wireless alarm system that when paired with the GSM module, allows control via SMS messaging.

The app currently provides the ability to:

arm
disarm
check the status of the alarm.
select a contact/enter a phone number for the panel
Enter the GSM pin
persist the panel/pin values

Due to security restrictions in WP7, it is not possible to transmit or receive/process text messages in the background, so it constructs the relevant format text message and then presents this to the user to send.

Windows Phone 7 – Mango

As a user of windows phone 7, I’m pretty excited at the fact that the Mango release is due within the next two weeks.
The user interface of windows phone 7 is by far and above the best experience of all mobile devices I’ve used, which include Symbian, Blackberry, Android and iPhone!

Windows Phone 7 is so extremely slick and intuitive, and needs to be seen/used and lived with before anyone passes judgement/fan boy ism comments. There’s just so many nice things about it, and the mango release looks set to address some of the more irritating issues, whilst adding a whole host of additional features!

As such – I’m also pleased to see Windows 8 going in this direction, along with the XBox360 Dashboard.

It looks like Microsoft is onto a winner here, be interesting to see the state of the mobile/OS/games console market in a couple of years time!

Still use your NSLU2?

I’m still using my NSLU2, though it’s pretty much serving as a firewall and remote access gateway now.

Currently it’s configured with DenyHosts, an SSH server configured with public/private certificates, and not too much else.

I then connect into my home network with my private certificate via SSH, and can then tunnel onto any other machine.

I’ve also purchased an arduino and am considering the possibility of some home automation via the slug!

Do other people still use their NSLU2 and if so, what for?

I’ve implemented a new ‘theme’ for the site, so expect a few issues over the next few days as I iron out any teething issues!

If you spot any problems, or want to make any comments about the theme, please reply to this post.

I’ve also now fully moved the host so it’s properly hosted at pembo.co.uk rather that a redirect to ukfsn.org. This transition should hopefully be seamless and you shouldn’t notice any difference. All downloads are currently hosted in both sites, and the ukfsn.org address now redirects to pembo.co.uk!

TetWiis v1.1 Released!

TetWiis v1.1 has been released containing a number of bug fixes and requests.

Change Log – v1.1:

Implemented clockwise/anticlockwise rotation of the blocks. Button (1) on the wiimote and (b) on the classic controller now rotate anticlockwise.
Adjusted the key repeat timings for improved control
Fixed the DOWN press release timer to give you a small amount of time before the key repeat kicks in again.
Implemented a pause menu (Pressing Home Button Ingame) where you can return to the game menu, or exit to the loader
Added a graphical reminder on the high score entry screen that the wiimote should be vertical
Resolved a few minor bugs.

If you want to retain your scores, simply copy the boot.dol from v1.1 and replace the existing boot.dol from v1.0

Quick Tetwiis update

I’ve made a number of changes/additions to Tetwiis which I’ll release soon, these are:

Adjusted the key repeat timings
Fixed the DOWN press release timer to give you a small amount of time before the key repeat kicks in again
Implemented a pause menu where you can go back to the game menu or exit to the loader

BootMii Configuration Editor Forwarder & Channel

I’ve now created a forwarder and Channel for BootMii Configuration Editor. The forwarder is based on the excellent code in WiiMC by Tantric, and the channel was created using CustomizeMii. As per WiiMC, the channel/forwarder will attempt to use IOS58 if this is present for USB2.0 compatibility

The forwarder expects to find boot.dol in the /apps/bootmii_cfg_ed/ directory on either the SD or a USB device.

I’ve tested this on my Wii running HBC 1.08, installing the channel using an appropriate WAD installer and all is good!
If you’ve any concerns about installing channels, please don’t do this unless your adequately protected with BootMii/Boot2 or Priiloader.

BootMii Configuration Editor v2.6 Released!

This update is available from the following link, or using the auto update functionality present within BootMii Configuration Editor v2.4 onwards. To update from v2.4 onwards, simply start the editor from the homebrew channel and the new version will be detected and downloaded should you choose to update.

Changes in this release are:

When BootMii Switch is active, a new option has been added – switch and reboot. This allows you to switch the directories around and restart the wii immediately.
USB2.0 Support (via IOS58). Bootmii Config Editor can now launch from a USB drive, however it will still only edit INI files on the SD card. This utilises IOS58 from the HBC channel. If you don’t have IOS58 installed, you can install this using the IOS58 Clean Installer.

TetWiis Forwarder & Channel

I’ve now created a TetWiis forwarder dol and channel WAD, created using the excellent CustomizeMii and the forwarder code from WiiMC.
As per WiiMC, The forwarder will attempt to use IOS58 if it’s present.

The forwarder looks both on the SD and any connected USB drive for /apps/tetwiis/boot.dol to launch.
